Privacy

What the request form collects, where it goes, how long it is kept, and why an appraiser's confidentiality obligation goes further than a privacy policy.

What this site collects

Only what you type into the request form. There is no account to create, no login, and no profile built about you.

The form asks for your name, contact details, the property, and the kind of assignment you need. Some of those answers are sensitive by their nature: a divorce, a death, a bankruptcy, or active litigation.

Where a submission goes

It is delivered directly to Scott by email and is not stored by this website. There is no database behind this site holding your submission, no third-party form service keeping a copy, and no analytics record of what you selected.

That is a deliberate design choice rather than an oversight. The shortest honest answer to "who else can see this" is nobody, and the way to be able to say that is to not keep it anywhere.

How long it is kept, and how to have it deleted

Once a submission reaches Scott's mailbox it lives there like any other email. If you do not become a client, ask and it will be deleted.

If you do become a client, the assignment file is governed by the record-keeping rule below rather than by this policy.

Why an appraiser's obligation goes further

The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice impose a confidentiality obligation on an appraiser that is stricter than an ordinary privacy policy. Assignment results and client identity are confidential, and they stay confidential after the assignment ends.

It is also why no photograph from an actual assignment appears anywhere on this site. A photograph of a subject property can identify both the client and the assignment.

Record keeping

Where an assignment is performed, the workfile is retained for at least five years, and longer where a matter is pending. That is a professional requirement and it is not something a client can waive.
